Dedicated to Akhal-Teke preservation
Norris Peak Ranch is dedicated to the preservation of the Akhal-Teke; the graceful, intelligent, sensitive, fearless, and athletic golden horses of Central Asia. Revered by the peoples of Asia for more than 5,000 years, the Akhal-Teke awareness and population are increasing in United States and Europe.
Norris Peak Ranch is located in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Homesteaded in 1890, our ranch, adjacent to Black Hills National Forest, has a long and colorful history. Located at 5200 ft, Norris Peak provides our Akhal-Teke with grazing pasture and a 1000 ft climb to the summit of the ranch.
Climate and natural conditions in the Black Hills are similar to those found in Turkmenistan; the ancient homeland of the Akhal-Teke. South Dakota's cold winters, plentiful lush pasture in the spring, long, dry and hot summers with mature but nutritious grass available through the late fall represent classic conditions for the Akhal-Teke.
Our state of the art equine facility promotes the ancient and noble Akhal-Teke horse through dressage and endurance events. At Norris Peak Ranch, we strive to provide the highest quality guardianship, training and advancement of the Akhal-Teke.
